Dear Friend or Friend to be,

So how about that blizzard? LOL I know a lot of people are going on about it not being as predicted and bashing the meteorologists and Christe but I for one am not upset, so I got extra milk and bread big deal. I got to work from home Tuesday instead of shlepping up to the office, the theater was closed but they promised me a re-fund, my mail didn't get delivered so I had to watch an extra night of on-demand Netflix instead of the next disc....all in all no biggie. Was YOUR life inconvenienced too much by the weather reports? I'd like to hear about how you handled it.

With Love and in the Light, Cassie

We have had lots of fun over the years having events at  this place and now they need our help:
Please consider making a donation to the Freehold American Legion Post 54 fundraiser and please share this link with your friends and family.
Throughout the country American Legion posts are being forced to close their doors forever because of the cost of keeping buildings open. We DO NOT want to join that list. If we receive an average of only one dollar from everyone who reads this, we will reach our goal. As a native Freehold singer and songwriter once wrote: "From small things, mama, big things one day come."
The reasons why we have to make this request are on the GoFundMe link, but I want everyone to know that every dollar we receive will go towards the maintenance and upkeep of the American Legion building in Freehold, New Jersey.
The reason why we are able to live in freedom today is because of the sacrifices made by our past veterans and present members of the United States military. The American Legion is an organization that serves these veterans as well as the community in which we live. Post 54 is almost 100 years old and through your help it will survive to serve the Freehold community and the veterans of tomorrow.
Thank you very much for your help!

HELP FIGHT FEE INCREASES AT SANDY HOOK!

Yo Peeps I need your help!  They are trying to raise the fees at Sandy Hook AGAIN! It was raised to $15 two years ago and now they want to raise it to $20. (season passes would be $100) You can contact them and leave a comment
send your email to Fee_increase@nps.gov  they are taking comments from now until the vote time Jan 20th
This is my favorite place on earth and it saddens me I can usually only afford to go after 5pm in the summertime. I think if they need more money they should make another beach and add a bit more parking.
You can read the full article below and thanks for your help!

Love, Cassie

Halt fee hikes at Sandy Hook

Here in the dead of winter, most New Jerseyans aren’t thinking about summertime trips to Sandy Hook. That might be what the National Park Service is counting on as it seeks to raise camping fees this summer, and parking fees in 2017.

It was just two years ago that the park service increased daily fees at Sandy Hook from $10 to $15 for most vehicles. And now it’s back, trying to pry more cash from visitors’ wallets by increasing the cost of parking to $20. Season passes would jump from $75 to $100 in 2017, under the plan. Camping fees would increase from $20 to $30 this coming Memorial Day.

Not much has changed in two years, certainly not anything that would warrant the current proposed hikes. We opposed the previous increase, and we oppose this one even more strongly.

Time for the public to comment on these proposed increases is running out. Gateway National Recreation Area officials will accept comments from the public through Jan. 20 before making a final decision.

It should be noted that the National Park Service does not treat all units of Gateway equally. The parking fees for Riis Beach in Queens will rise from $10 to $15 per day. There should be a uniformity of parking fees throughout the recreation area. Obviously, the National Park Service should be able to charge something for the preservation and upkeep of the national treasure that is Sandy Hook. But an equally important goal is to ensure that Sandy Hook remains affordable for anyone who wants to visit, regardless of his or her economic status.

For many in New Jersey, the economic situation is still unsettled and many hard-working residents still must opt for inexpensive day trips close to home.

Sandy Hook must continue its mandate to provide environmentally sound recreational opportunities for those in the area it serves. It cannot fulfill that mission if it puts access to it beyond the reach of increasing numbers of residents.

On Monday, Rep. Frank Pallone Jr., D-N.J., attended a public comment session to express his concern regarding the proposed fee increases. At his request, the park service agreed to hold the hearing at Sandy Hook, where New Jerseyans could voice their opinions regarding the proposed changes. He has called for the National Park Service to abandon the proposed fee increases, to review the Sandy Hook unit’s annual budget and to discuss other options to the fee hikes.

In January, summer seems a long way off, and the summer of 2017 seems like a mirage. But those days will be here before we know it.

The National Park Service should recognize what these fee increases would mean for families at the Jersey Shore and find other revenue streams to continue its various missions here in New Jersey.

Citizens need to join a chorus of voices opposing the increases.
To comment, send your email to Fee_increase@nps.gov, or write to Office of the Superintendent, Gateway National Recreation Area, ATTN: Proposed parking and camping fee increase, 210 New York Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305.

Dear Friend or Friend to be,

How's your New Year going so far? I had a rough day on Monday but things are looking up. I am busy coming up with new business ideas, and tossing out old ideas that didn't pan out. I realize more and more that I don't want to work for "the man" too much longer and I want to take an early retirement but I don't have a nest egg to do so. That's ok though in my family people tend to get rich AFTER they retire and start doing what they REALLY want to do so that's my plan for me too! LOL How about you, are you tired of working at the wrong job and want to find a better way to earn money? I'd love to hear about it...
