News and Events 1-29-16

Dear Friend or Friend to be,

So did everyone survive that winter storm last weekend? Are you done with winter yet? Ground Hog Day is Tuesday so we can always hope for him to predict an early end of winter, however the Farmers Almanac says otherwise and I think they are generally correct. What about you? Are you ready for winter to end or do you still have things you want to do? What do you like to do in the winter time?

With Love and in the Light, Cassie

Central Jersey has no shortage of hills and wide-open spaces. While some counties and municipalities shy away from encouraging sledding in their parks — fearing liability from injuries — there are still plenty of locations where the winter activity is officially sanctioned.
In the Union County parks system, officials allow sledding at Briant Park in Summit; the Summer Arts Hill near Springfield Avenue at Echo Lake Park in Westfield; Lenape Park in Cranford; the detention basin area of Meisel Park in Springfield; and Unami Park in Garwood.
The county also allows cross-country skiing at Ash Brook Golf Course in Scotch Plains, Oak Ridge Golf Course in Clark and Watchung Reservation in Mountainside.
In Middlesex County, sledding is allowed at Donaldson Park on South 2nd Street in Highland Park and Thompson Park on Forsgate Drive in Monroe.
New Brunswick allows sledding on the hill at Buccleuch Park.
The hill behind East Brunswick High School also is a popular spot.
South Brunswick allows sledding in its parks but says people “sled at their own risk.”
The township website says sledding is permitted only during daylight hours and that children should wear helmets, avoid scarves (which are a strangulation hazard) and use sleds that can be steered.
The website Sledriding.com says a good sledding spot in South Brunswick is at Woodlot Park, off New Road, to the left of the baseball fields.
While Somerset County’s park system does not officially allow sledding in any of its parks, some municipalities allow sledding on local land, such as Watchung Lake Park and the Warren Township Municipal Building.
The website JerseyFamilyFun.com also lists Duke Island Park and Hillside School in Bridgewater, Greenwood Meadows Park and Mt. Horeb School in Warren, and Village School in Montgomery as sledding places popular with locals.

Dear Friend or Friend to be,

How was everyone's week? Mine was good as it started off with a day off on Monday. I used the day to take my son on some errands he needed to do and then TV shopping. I went and got a nice 43 inch smart TV for under $400 for my bedroom and am quite pleased with it. I think I need to  get a wireless keyboard though as its too hard to use the remote. Anyone out there have experience with that? At any rate I  am all set up at home to stay in if we get the big storm predicted....are you?? How do you spend your snowed in days? (please leave a comment below so others can see your ideas)

Dear Friend or Friend to be,

So how was everyone's week? Mine was good, totally getting into the swing of things at the new job and my sinus/cold issues were much better this week. I have an office dilemma though, everyone is going out to eat for lunch on Friday and the company pays but they selected an Indian food place and I can not eat that as I can't handle the spicy food (probably would clear up my sinuses though LOL). I wouldn't mind not going but they are all wanting me to go....what would you do?

Dear Friend or Friend to be,

So how was your week? Did everyone get adjusted to being back at work on a normal schedule? I did quite well  with being back to work (despite having to go out early in the cold) after  my 4 1/2 month "vacation". It feels good to be working again and I was worried about having enough time but I have plenty. I find that getting in the swing of things keeps you going as apposed to slowing  down gets you to a near stop. LOL Anyone else have that effect?

Dear Friend or Friend to be,

So how was your week? The week between Christmas and New Years has always been special to me, I usually have it off and I usually enjoy it. I like getting out to see friends, putting away Christmas stuff, getting organized, watching a lot of movies and of course sleeping a lot. LOL One thing I used to do that I do not anymore is make resolutions. It's not that I have given up on changing and improving myself but to me that is a year long process that I work on during my full moon ceremonies, those who have attened know what I am talking about and how powerful they are. So here's to a new year and new things for us all! Let's make this year great!

With Love and in the Light, Cassie

” Be soft,
Do not let the world make you hard.
Do not let the pain make you hate.
Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness.
Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree,
You still believe it to be a beautiful place.”
