News and Events 4-28-17

Dear Friends,

Well May is almost here! Time to really get busy planting my flowers and rest of the vegetables. I think this has got to be my favorite month (October is 2nd) because its nice enough to be outside and not too hot yet. My only regret this month is generally I spend too much time gardening and I miss out going to many of the great events going on, that and I should get out biking sooner too so am going to work on that this year, especially since I am only in school part time and not yet working... What about you? What great things do you plan to do this May?

With Love and in the Light, Cassie

Dear Friends,

So how was everyone's week? I had a fun one doing more gardening. I got the brussle sprouts in and some more onions too. Also carrots and radishes. I got my front porch ready too now for visitors to stop by and sit awhile see it here. What about you? Got anything done in your yard yet? I'd love to hear about it and see pics if you have them.

Dear Friends,

So how was everyone's week? Mine was awesome! I went to Gasko's on Sunday and got some early plants and have been working all week in my yard and garden. Have planted garlic, onions, romaine lettuce and some pansies! Boy is my body complaining! LOL But I am rewarding myself on Sunday with a nice brunch and parade to celebrarate Easter. What are you doing this weekend?

Dear Friends,

So who's started working in their gardens? I got a slow start on my mulching the flowerbeds as I had to order a new tire tube for my garden wagon and the only non rainy day I had class but hey we need the rain. I am really looking forward to Sunday as my friend Blanche is coming over to get us started in the vegetable garden. She enjoyed getting vegetables from me so much last year that she is going to help this year! Its always nice to share with people who give back, that's how it worked in the old days everyone produced and then traded with others for what they needed. How about you do you grow any vegetables to share with others?

Dear Friends,

Well April has snuck up on us already! I am happy though, am that much closer to being outside working in my yard. I want to try growing brussle sprouts this year, I recall my parents always did but I hate them but my son loves them so I want to grow them for him. I am just so so happy though that April is here even if it starts with April Fools day....did you get pranked? Did you do any good pranks?

Dear Friends,

Well Monday was the first day of spring, are you as excited as I am? I LOVE spring because it means I can go outside and work in my garden and flower beds. This makes me soooo happy and this year I am also going to help out with the garden at Saint Marks too! Monday was also a bad day as my son and his fiance broke up and called off the wedding. I hate to see him suffer so much and am really trying hard to help him through this (hard to do when he is in Colorado and I am here) but deep down I really feel like he dodged a bullet and hope he sees that someday soon..... In the meantime got any advice on what I can say to him other than the same old cliches?  LOL

Dear Friends,

So did everyone survive that storm this week? I sure hope its our last one. I am so ready for spring! I think at least the precipitation will be gone as I am sure there are more parades this weekend and more the following too. I am not much of a parade person these days, kinda got bored with it once my boys grew up. I am sure that once I have grandchildren someday I will be again though. What about you? Do you like to go to parades?

Want to really help?
We need helpers at the soup kitchen at St Mark's in Keansburg on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
ANY amount of time you can give to help serve breakfast and lunch, prepare iced tea, cut up cakes/pies for dessert, sweep and mop, wipe down tables, help the cooks clean up the kitchen...hours are 9 am to 2 pm....just show up to 247 Carr Ave Keansburg and go to the big tan building next to the church and ask for Verena or Mother Kathy.....your help will be greatly appreciated
